H. Chavez: The End of the Rule of Law in Venezuela
Wednesday, March 19    12:00PM, Law School Room 3043

Is the media the only remaining guarantor of law in Venezuela? Are we facing a new model of dictatorship? Is there a dictator in the backyard of the United States? Join us this Wednesday, March 19th at 12:00PM (Eastern time) in Room 3043 for a special presentation on the current crisis in Venezuela. Learn what a media CEO had to say when the President of Venezuela called him the "horseman of the Apocalypse."

Venezuelan students Federico Lander and Clara Granier will present a talk and video on the end of the rule of law in Venezuela. Professor Scott Silliman will explain the implications of the Venezuelan crisis on the United States. We will also be joined via videoconference by Marcel Granier, a lawyer and CEO of Radio Caracas Television (RCTV). A pioneer of the broadcast media business in Venezuela, RCTV was founded in November 1953 and is the oldest and largest TV station in the country.

Lunch will be served. After the presentation, treat yourself with Venezuelan chocolates and coffee.

This event is co-sponsored by the Office of International Studies, Hispanic Law Students Association, Business Law Society, Federalist Society, and International Law Society.
